Kawasaki has just showcased the ICE hydrogen engine in the early stages of testing. This particular motorcycle has an inline 4-cylinder engine which was already seen on Ninja H2X but with a hydrogen fuel type. Power figures are yet to be announced but for reference, the petrol version of H2X produces whooping 210 hp and 137 nm of torque and all other technical details are yet to be known.
The bike looks very different from all angles but mind you this is a prototype testing motorcycle production version. It could be very different but from a design point of view I see huge boxes or pannier-like structures at the back but the purpose of them is still unavailable.
Kawasaki is trying another internal combustion engine system with hydrogen fuel to change the direction of motorcycle engines or to adapt to carbon neutrality by 2030. There is an initiative happening in Japan which is HySE also known as Hydrogen Small Mobility and Engine Technology, this initiative is formed by leading motorcycle manufacturers of the world such as Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Toyota. This initiative’s goal is to create a motorcycle or engine for sustainable and carbon neutrality by 2030 which helps for climate change and new shift of technology in internal combustion engines.
