Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the highest-selling MUV in the Indian market with adequate passenger space and features. Recently one of my friends bought it, so I got to ride it for a good 400 km to write a review. So let’s dive into the details of the car.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Ride Review

Starting with the engine it is a 1.5 liter k15c inline 4 cylinder petrol engine with 101.6 bhp at 6000 rpm and 136.8 nm at 4400 rpm mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Now coming riding part the engine is very silent with great refinement, the engine cold starts at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes and comes back to 1000 to 1300 rpm the moment you release the clutch it is a very linear delivery of power with actual powerband starts at 2500 rpm where the engine is ready to rev faster to its redline of 6500 rpm but the engine revs up to 6000 rpm.
Speed can be attained very quickly while going through the gears but the low-end driveability is great where you can shift to top gear at low speeds of 50 km/hr and you can do it all day long without any knocking. You can cruise comfortably at speeds of 100 to 120 km/hr and you can do it more also but that is not to do unless you have a clean stretch of road ahead.
In conclusion, the drive is pleasant, refined, and very engaging at the top end and you normally drive in the city at below 2000 rpm with adequate speed and power. But diesel is diesel anyway I really miss the diesel engine in the Ertiga it has more power and torque and the most important aspect is it gives an impeccable mileage of 24 km which is not the case with the petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Mileage

The mileage we are getting in the City is 12 kmpl and 15 on the highways but the car is very new and the first service is not yet done, after the first service the mileage could improve to 18 kmpl which is what the showroom person told us to get in the highway and 14 in the city. I will update this thing once the first service is completed.
Tires and Brakes
Tires are taken care of by the Bridgestone EP150 model with 185/65 R15 88H which is good and gets your work done with no problems in this section.
Coming to the brakes two discs at the front and drums at the rear and the braking is ok not up to the mark, very sharp braking can cause to fade out the brakes but might be improved with regular wear and tear.
Suspension are from McPherson strut and coil spring at the front and torsion beam coil spring at the rear with good comfort and rideability, good for very long rides.
Interior

We took the mid-variant VXi (o) interior was fine but had no automatic climate control and touchscreen infotainment system, but we upgraded with the aftermarket infotainment system. All four power windows and power operating outside rearview mirrors with fold and unfold function which is a very good feature.
Safety

- ABS
- EBD
- ESC
- Hill hold assist
- remote locking
- driver-side anti-pinch power windows
- speed sensitive door locking
- Speed alerts
- Pretensioner seatbelt
But the quality of the metal used or the build quality for that matter is not great more of a hard plastic kind of material is used in the very strong crumpled gone area and engine bay, quality of the metal or the amount the usage could be much better.
Features
- 4 speakers and 2 tweeters
- Android Auto and Apple Car play
- USB ports
- Connected car tech in the top models
- Cooled front cup holders
- Idle Start-stop system
- Follow me function
- 209 liters boot space and with 2-row seats folded it can be increased further
- 45 liters fuel capacity

By concluding the review I can say this car is more suitable for a large family with 5 or more people with a very spacious seating cabin, very chilled AC and good luggage carrying capacity with great mileage to long distances but all this is at a cost of low build quality, so if you are ok with build quality and if you can drive safely this car the choice to go if you want a big car for your family.
